Five steps to gain confidence

You will succeed to convince other people if you are convinced yourself...

1/ to know your product very well

You should totally know your product: advantages, characteristics, applications and above all their strengths and weaknesses compared to your competitor. When nobody can catch out out, you will bring an enthusiasm that will arouse other people. You will have more opportunity to provide a concrete answer to people needs.

2/ master the blurb

You have adjusted your sales pitch and you know it very well so you can focus on the customer's reaction and talk. It does not mean saying it by heart. You should be able to handle it in a way or another so you could adapt it depending to the circumstances. You know how to proceed in precise details : what you will say, how to submit the quote, how you will answer the objection for example. That is a very important to point to gain confidence.

3/ thinking ahead the sequence of events

Write down the different step to follow. Then, sit on a comfortable chair, close your eyes and put hands on your face. Like if you were in a movie, observe yourself through out the whole sale processes.

4/ develop solutions

Take into account your weaknesses and mentally develop better solutions, Take into account the negative feelings emerging from a special circumstances: lack of enthusiasm, indifference, lack of will, dissatisfaction, confusion etc. Try to think a way to avoid them in similar circumstances. For example, if you have getting nervous when you have to announce the price, persuade yourself that they are not calculated lightly. Ask explanation from your sales director: the better you will understand how the price are set, the better you will defend them.

5/ be convinced of your future success

Look over each previous step and imagine the ideal scenario. It does not mean you should avoid negative reaction and objections. Au contraire, you should train yourself to answer all possible question until the meeting is going smoothly such as a blockbuster in your spirit. You are the hero bypassing all the obstacles!
