Google’s quest to go green
Submitted by admin on Mon, 06/01/2009 - 13:03The American internet giant uses an unexpected technology to fight against the fires around his Californian offices: goats, known for their brush cutting talents.
Google engaged 200 of them to graze grounds surrounding his campus of Mountain View in California a month ago.
The region is frequently ravaged by vast forest fires; and several years of drought aggravated the situation.
"We have to crop certain grounds occasionally to eliminate weed and bushes to reduce fire risks ", wrote a Google spokesman, Dan Hoffman, on the group website.
Instead of using noisy electric lawn mowers which use some gasoline and pollute the air, we rented goats to make the job.
